Parsley and carrot dog biscuits
I still had more shredded carrots and needed to do something
with it, obviously nothing for me, so dog biscuits it was!
I went to this site where i have found a number of great dog
biscuit recipes!
I also did some research regarding parsley and the benefits for pups: including fresh breath and helping with digestion – although too many of these babies in a day and there is nothing helping with the smell!
Ingredients
- 1/4 -> 1/2 cup dried parsley leaves
- 1 cup grated carrots
- 1/4 cup grated cheese (i went with cheddar)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 2/3 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 -> 1 1/2 cup water
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a small bowl mix the parsley, carrots, cheese and oil together. In a mixing bowl stir together the flour and baking powder. Add the vegetable mixture and stir well.
Gradually add 1/2 cup of water and mix well. Adding a little more water if needed to make the dough moist. (I usually need the extra 2 tablespoons of water). Kneed dough for one minute.
Roll out the dough to ½ inch thickness on a silpat. Using a pizza cutter cut into squares the size appropriate for your dog!
Bake in the warmed oven for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
Leave the biscuits on the cookie tray for 5 minutes, before moving to a cooling rack. (Biscuits will harden as they cool).
Once cooled (i leave them out for a few days till they are good and dry and hardened so as to avoid mold), store in an airtight container
